Longer days. Lighter evenings. Zero excuse to stay indoors!

The winter season might be wrapping up, but the pitch is just getting started. We are thrilled to announce our Avoca Summer Hockey Sessions, kicking off immediately after Easter!

Whether you're looking to keep your fitness up, sharpen your skills, or just enjoy a social knock-around under the evening sky, we’ve got a slot for you.

The Details

Who: Exclusive to Avoca Hockey Club Members (Aged 16+).

Start Date: Monday, 20th April 2026 (running for 15 weeks until Friday, 31st July)

Format: All sessions are Mixed (Men & Women).

The Weekly Schedule

Mondays (8:30–10pm): Walking Hockey (O35s)

Tuesdays (7:00–8:30pm): Summer Hockey (O16s)

Wednesdays (7:00–8:30pm): Vets Hockey (O35s)

Thursdays (7:00–8:30pm): Summer Hockey (O16s)

Fridays (7:00–8:30pm): Social Hockey (O30s)

Unbeatable Value

We want as many members as possible back on the pitch, so we’ve kept the costs low:

Full Summer Pass: €75 (plus transaction fees)
This allows you access for all 15 weeks for up to 5 nights of hockey working out at just €5 per week

Late Starter Pass: €50 (plus transaction fees)
Available for purchase after 16th May for those who cannot start until then and allows access for the remaining 10 weeks

Important Participation Notes:

Insurance: All players must have a valid Hockey Ireland membership/insurance to take part in these sessions

Under 18s: For players aged 16 and 17, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver before the first session accepting that these are unsupervised sessions involving adult players of mixed ability.

General Rules:

All players must have current Hockey Ireland membership / insurance.

Any adverse behaviour will lead to dismissal. Overly rough, dangerous or other unacceptable behaviour will lead to a warning and potentially dismissal. No refund if dismissed.

If you were dismissed in previous seasons that dismissal is permanent and you cannot sign up for this event.

This is fun hockey and the coordinators will ensure each team is of mixed gender, age and ability so that it is fun for all.

Shinguards and Gumshields mandatory.

2026 Summer ID Hockey Programme

This years programme is open to all players aged 10 years to adult who are registered with Hockey Ireland and already playing with a club
PLUS
Total beginners with intellectual disabilities who would like to ‘ give hockey a go’.

All players must wear shin guards and bring a gum shield. Hockey sticks will be available.

Where: Newpark Comprehensive School

When: Every Monday from 6-7pm
